Abstract

640,669. Centrifugal compressors. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. Nov. 19, 1947, No. 30709. Convention date, March 8, 1943. [Class 110(i)] An impeller is reinforced by a ring 10 which is S-shaped in cross-section having axially extending ends 8, 9 which engage the shroud 4 at radially spaced surfaces 11, 12. These surfaces are tapered inwardly. The crosssection of the ring is such that there is no tendency to twist under the action of centrifugal force. The hub 1 is reinforced by rings 13, 14. The rings 10, 13, 14 are of high strength steel and are shrunk on to the impeller, which may be of aluminium alloy.
