[Class 80 (iv)] A guard for a metal cutting machine such as a lathe comprises two cover members 1, 3 hinged at 13 and 7 respectively so as to both open upwardly and outwardly from the operating zone. In the closed position the cover 3 abuts against the hinged portion of cover 1 and the cover 1 is provided with a supplementary part 15 hinged at 17.
