637,350. Pulsators for cow milkers. WALLACE, Ltd., J. & R., WALLACE, J., HARE, A. M., and RICHARDSON, W. J. April 5, 1948, No. 9453. [Class 84] A double-walled teat cup, for a milking machine, having an outer rigid wall a, Fig. 1, and an inner flexible wall b enclosing a space c, is mounted on a plug g to the base of which is secured a pulsator outer casing d. A disc h is provided with ports i and j, Fig. 2, by which communication is effected between space c and the interior of plug g by way of passage j<SP>3</SP> and hole i<SP>2</SP>. Valve chamber e has a liner p with diametrically opposed slots q. A valve member r, in the form of a ring which reciprocates in slots q, encloses a ball s. Suction applied through connection x is transmitted via i2, i, j and j3 to space c. Evacuation of the valve chamber causes ball s to rise with its valve member r. Valve o is raised from its seat and air passing through inlet m, round the ball s and through passages j and j3, breaks the vacuum in space c allowing ball s to fall to its original position. This cycle is repeated, thus placing space c alternately under vacuum and atmospheric pressure. Specifications 262,515, [Class 84], and 426,959 are referred to.
