[Classes 40 (v) and 40 (vi)] A Colpitts oscillator is arranged to supply power to a capacitative load by connecting the load as a series impedance in the tuned circuit. Various regulation characteristics, i.e. power output rising or falling with load capacitance, are obtained by placing a capacitor having a suitable value across the load, preferably at the oscillator end of the leads to the load, so as to minimize the chance of parasitic oscillations. The oscillating circuit inductance and capacity is preferably constituted largely by the inductance of the leads and valve inter-electrode capacities.
