Abstract

634,293. Electrically-actuated valves. FAIRY AVIATION CO., Ltd., LISLE, W. G., and EBEL, F. L. Aug. 28, 1945, No. 22123. [Class 135] An electro-hydraulic valve for the remote control of, e.g. a hydraulic jack, or for the synchronous control of a number of jacks, comprises a casing 10 communicating with the main supply pipe 18 to the jack cylinder 20, a pipe 23 connected to the jack cylinder, and a sump pipe 24. Communication with the pipes 18, 24 is controlled by valve members 11, 12 respectively, normally held closed by a common spring 1'3 and alternately opened by an armature 14 common to oppositely wound solenoids 15, 16. When the solenoid 16 is energized the armature 14 will be moved to the right and the valve 11 opened to permit pressure liquid to pass to the cylinder 20 via the pipe 23 to move the piston to the left and displace liquid on the other side thereof through the valve 11 and pipe 23 to the opposite end of the cylinder. When the solenoid 15 is energized the armature 14 moves to the left to open the valve 12 and close the valve 11 to permit movement of the piston to the right and the exhaust of liquid from the right end of the cylinder to the sump.
