Abstract
632,029. Cable and wire couplings. COOK, C. R., and BRITISH MECHANICAL PRODUCTIONS, Ltd. Jan. 15, 1948, No. 1275. [Class 38 (i)] [Also in Group XXVIII] A connector comprises a pin 3 of the kind described in Specifications 403,448, 421,128, 457,113, and having an eye 4, to receive the twisted ends 7 of wires 8 and means to cause the pin to clamp the wires against the edges of a bore 2 in the connector body which is provided with covers 9, 10 for each end of the pin. The clamping means may be a nut 6 screwed on the shank 5 of the pin, the covers being screwed together, Fig. 1, or alternatively, one cover 24 may bear on the pin and the other cover 23 forms the body, Fig. 5. Two pairs of wires are accommodated in a further modification, Fig. 6, wherein a member 31 has two pins 41, 42 and covers 32, 33 screwed thereon and apertured at 38 for the wires. The cover 32 is recessed at 44, thereby providing a " ratchet " action on the pins. In a still further modification (Fig. 4, not shown), a plug screws into the body, which is cylindrical, to load the pin. Ledges 45 are provided on the pins to enhance their clamping effect on the wires.
