[Class 38(v)] The operating lever or handle and the rear wall of a switch casing are made of translucent material, a lamp being arranged behind the switch so as to illuminate the handle. The rear wall 2, Fig. 1, carries terminal contacts 5c co-operating with contacts 6 on a three-position plate 7 slidable on a pin 18 into engagement with the contacts by means of a spring 19. The handle 12 has a projection 14 engaging between two ears 16 on the plate 7 so as to couple them together. The lamp 24 may be permanently alight or may be lit in certain switching positions only and more light may be passed to the handle through holes in the plate 7. In Fig. 3, the circuit of lamp 53 is controlled by parallelled pairs of contacts 38, 39 and a bridging contact 50 on a pivoted switch handle 40. Pairs of contacts 34, 35 are adapted to be selectively bridged by a rivet 43 to control vehicle direction indicators. Ears 46 locate the handle in its central position. The lamp may alternatively be housed in the casing behind the handle with its enamel cap shielding some of the light. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 624,508.
