Abstract
627,870. Impedance networks. HAZELTINE CORPORATION. Nov. 4, 1946, No. 32744. Convention date, Nov. 8, 1945. [Class 40 (viii)] A high-frequency filter system comprises a pair of Lecher wires spaced less than #/2#, where # is the operating wave-length and having a length equal to an integral number of quarter wave-lengths, a coupling member being disposed between the wires for unequally distributing over a distance less than half of their length the opposed coupling therebetween caused by the electric and magnetic fields. At the spacing and length chosen the capacitative and inductive coupling between the wires would cancel out if it were not for the coupling member. As shown, signals from an aerial 10 pass to a filter using three wires 13, 14 and 15 forming two pairs grounded at their lower ends. Shields 17 and 18 placed in a position where inductive coupling predominates cause a resultant coupling between the wires which then form a band-pass filter between aerial 10 and element 12. In an alternative construction the wires may be connected by condensers in a region where capacitative coupling predominates. The position of the coupling members and the length of the wires may be adjustable.
