Abstract
627,006. Alternator casings. BRITISH THOMSON - HOUSTON CO., Ltd., GRIFFITHS, L., and FARDON, G. E. Nov. 17, 1944, No. 22872. [Class 35] A combined A.C. generator and rectifier, intended especially for self-propelled vehicles, has the rectifier, provided with cooling means mounted on the end cover within the casing of the generator. In one form, the rectifier 8 is mounted on the cover 6 whilst a fan 2a, mounted on - the generator rotor draws air through a gauze 15 and holes 16 and expels it through holes 17. In a modification, Fig. 4 (not shown), the rectifier is an annular plate surrounding the fan, and in a further modification, Fig. 1 (also not shown), the rectifier is cooled without fanning by radiation from the corrugated sides of a sealed enclosure in which it is immersed in a cooling fluid, such as oil.
