Abstract

626,994. Fuel injection pumps; valve gear. EVANS, A. F., and HOPKINS, S. March 10, 1947, No. 6681. [Classes 7 (iii) and 7 (vi)] [Also in Group XXVIII] A fuel injection pump (see Group XXVIII) is adapted to be operated by air compressed in the engine cylinder and admitted through an air timing valve 12 actuated by a hydraulically operated piston 14 supplied with oil under pressure from a spring-loaded plunger driven from the engine cam shaft by an adjustable cam mounted thereon through a roller and tappet lever with an adjustable fulcrum in order to provide phase adjustment. An injecter body 20, Fig. 2A, is mounted direct on the injection pump by a second socket 28 and has two delivery valves 21, 23 with a filter 22 disposed therebetween and an injection nozzle 25.
