Abstract

626,776. Loose-leaf binders. CAVALLI, V. April 15, 1947, No. 10034. Convention date, April 15, 1946. [Class 146 (i)] A sheet-retaining device for a loose-leaf binder comprises a fixed element 1, with two retaining pegs 2, connected to the cover of the binder, and a removable cap element 4 with two retaining pegs 5 opposed to but not registering with the pegs 2, and one or more U-shaped recesses 4a having means for engagement with one or more closure catches, as 3, secured to the fixed element 1, the sheets 7 to be bound being provided with holes 7<SP>1</SP>, 7<SP>11</SP> corresponding to the two pairs of pegs 2, 5 and with one or more recesses 7a to fit the recesses 4a. The elements 1 and 4 are made from rectangular metal plates, the element 4 being bent to form the recess 4a and flanges 41 at each end and a slot 6 being provided in the recess for a pivotally mounted catch or key 3. In one modification, two recesses 4a and two keys 3 are provided and in a second modification the plate 1 is provided with two recesses opposite the recesses 4a so that the keys 3 are easier to manipulate, and in each case the. sheets 7 have two recesses 7a to correspond.
