[Class 28(ii)] The slice thickness gauge plate 10 of a slicing machine can also be adjusted towards the knife 12 to compensate for the wearing away of the knife after repeated grindings by sliding the plate along within grooves of top and bottom walls 17, 18, forming part of the support frame 15 for the gauge plate 10, and then clamping the plate in these recesses. The angle bar clamp 23 Fig. 3 when tightened up by screws 24 presses against the bevel 22 of the lower edge of the plate, and thereby also holds the top edge bevel securely in the undercut 20. Extensions 25, 26 of the walls 17, 18 are shaped to form guards for the knife edge. The top face of the angle clamp 23 can also serve as a rest when de-rinding bacon.
