626,060. Abrasive tools. STEPHENS, T. G. W. May 17,1946, No. 14982. [Class 60] An appliance for finishing ground surfaces of rotation comprises a number of elements mounted in a frame so as to project inwardly and bear against the work at points around the circumference thereof, one or more of the elements being an abrasive member and one or more a non- abrasive guide member, together with means for adjusting the elements relatively to a common centre. As shown in Fig. 2, a hand finisher comprises an outer frame 6 within which is freely mounted an inner frame 9: an abrasive member 12 and non-abrasive guide members 13 are fitted to the frame 9, the abrasive member being carried in a holder 14 slidable in a radial slot in the frame. The holder 14 is controlled by a pin 15 extending through a bore in the holder and engaging at its ends in spiral cam slots (not shown) in each side of the outer frame 6. Rotation of the inner frame 9 relative to the outer frame 6 is effected by means of worm 18 attached to frame 6 acting upon worm wheel segment 19 attached to frame 9, thus adjusting the position of the holder 14 and grinding member. As shown in Fig. 4 the centre portion of the pin 15 is notched at 15a and is held by spring 20 mounted on the holder 14, thus preventing inadvertent displacement of the pin.
