[Class 97 (i)] The front part of the camera carries the lens and has a rear wall forming the front wall of the gate, the rear portion is a film magazine, the front wall of which forms the rear wall of the gate and which is attachable in a lighttight manner to the front part. In the form shown, flangeless spools are used with their axes separated by less than the diameter of the fully wound film coil. The film passing to and from the spools is wound by a sprocket 24 and guided by rollers 27, 38, being held on the sprocket by rollers 25, 26, 39, 40. The film passes through curved channels to the outside of the front magazine wall, part 33 of which is spring urged to form the pressure plate of the film gate. The film is located by lugs 31, 35 engaging one edge of the film and the laterally spring-urged member 34 which has a portion engaging the other edge of the film. The magazine slides on to the camera on dovetail guides and a rim 42, surrounding the front wall, makes a light-tight joint with the camera wall. A spring-urged peg 32 engages one film perforation when the magazine is detached, but is withdrawn when the magazine is in place. This locates the film to ensure engagement of a perforation by the camera feed claw. Gearing on the sprocket spindle and take-up spool spindle engages the camera mechanism. It may be locked by a spring pawl which is released when the magazine is in place.
