Abstract

623,570. Wheel tyres. COGAN, R. A. Aug. 26, 1946, No. 25477. Convention date, Oct. 24, 1945. [Class 144 (ii)] A detachable tread band comprises sheetmetal shoes 4, shaped to fit the actual tread of the tyre, with side-portions having a radius of curvature equal to, or greater than, that of the shoulderportions of the tyre. The shoes are connected by links 7, one quick-release fastening 9 being provided at each side for assemblage &c. of the band. Ground-engaging strakes 5, of angle or other section, are welded &c. to the shoes. To prevent creep, the band may be anchored to the wheel by means of a chain 10.
