Abstract
623,252. Wagon-tipping apparatus. STRACHAN & HENSHAW, Ltd., and GROSSMITH, G. W. April 21, 1947, No. 10615. [Class 78 (iv)] A combined wagon tippler and storage bunker comprises a wagon tippler associated with a tipping chamber substantially closed to the atmosphere during the tipping operation, the tipping chamber being connected to an enclosed bunker. A side discharge wagon is mounted between frames 1 on a plate 14 and slide member 9 and rotates about a pivot 2 within a cowl 16, 17 connected to an enclosed bunker 20, the counterweighted door 22 of which is opened by material on discharging to allow entry through port 19. The wagon is clamped in position and is rotated by rack and pinion 3 or by rollers. The upper part of the bunker 20 form a dust settling chamber, and a valve controlled grating 28 is provided in the bunker and a grating 26 in the cowl. In a modification a rotary wagon is mounted on a plating in a housing with end rings and with doors and is rotated within the cowl to discharge into the bunker The plating closes the port of the tippler when receiving a wagon but on rotation of the wagon it uncovers the port to allow discharge into the bunker.
