Abstract
622,897. Delivering measured quantities of liquids. WAKEFIELD & CO., Ltd., C. C., and CLARK, R. G. E. April 16, 1947, No. 10154. [Class 106(v)] [Also in Group XXXIV] In a lubricating Valve of the kind comprising inlet ducts 13, 14 to which lubricant is alternately fed, an outlet duct 15, a piston slidably arranged in a measuring chamber 20, ports associated with each inlet duct and a valve 17 actuated by the pressure of the lubricant, the central portion of the walls of the measuring chamber comprises a sleeve 25 of transparent material. The piston is in two parts 21, 22 separated by a disc 23 forming an indicator which visible through the transparent material 25. In operation, lubricant under pressure applied to duct 14 forces dumb-bell valve 17 into its upper extreme position, passes through port 19 and then forces the piston into its upper extreme position. Lubricant then entering duct 13 forces valve 17 downwards, passes through port 18 and moves the piston downwards thus forcing lubricant through port 19 into cavity 16 and out through duct 15 to the part to be lubricated. The stroke of the piston and hence the quantity of lubricant supplied may be varied by adjustment of screw 27 which is protected by a cap 28. Access to the piston and valve 17 may be obtained by removal of screw caps 30, 31. The piston barrel is removable from the valve.
