[Class 129] '[Also in Group XXVIII] A coffee-maker comprises three superposed containers, mounted so as to be separable, the top and bottom containers communicating through a hollow handle formed in two parts and connected with an air-tight joint so as to be readily disconnectible. Water boiled in the bottom container 1, which may be of metal or plastic, rises by way of a pipe 4 to the upper container 3 in which the ground coffee is placed. A hole 24 prevents the passage of water into the container 3 before it is at boiling temperature. The infusion passes through perforations 22, which may be supplemented or superseded by a strainer, filter or filter paper, to the intermediate container 2, which may be of glass or plastic. The pipe 4, which is of metal or heatresistant glass, is housed in a moulded handle 5. To permit separation of the three containers, the pipe and handle are each made in two parts which are connected together by a rotatable sleeve 25. The latter is secured to the lower part of the handle by pins 26 which engage an annular groove in a reduced portion 5a. On rotation of the sleeve 25, internally projecting lugs 27 engage over tongues 28 formed on the upper part of' the handle. An electric cut-out switches off the supply to an electric heater 8 when the level of water in the container 1 has dropped to a predetermined level; a light 11, which may be moulded in the handle 5, may be included in the circuit.
