Abstract

620,920. Knurling. VITTORI, H. Jan. 31, 1947, No. 3056. [Class 83 (iv)] In a hand - operated knurling-tool the holder comprises two limbs, on one of which, 1, is a sliding member 4 adapted to be urged towards the second limb 2 by operating a hand lever 8 forming one element of a lever system which reacts only against the holder itself, three or more knurling- wheels 3a, 3b, 6, being provided, some on the sliding member 4 and some on the limb 2. The second element of the lever system comprises a pawl 12, pivoted at 11, urged away from the lever 8 by a spring 13, and adapted to engage in a toothed rack 10 on the limb 1. In modifications the pawl 12 and rack 10 may be replaced by a link pivoted at both ends, or a pawl or lever pivoted on the limb 1 and engaging the lever 8. Some of the wheels may be guiding-wheels only.
