Abstract

620,003. Angular bending. BILHAM, W. C. Jan. 1, 1947, No. 22. [Class 83 (iv)] A machine for bending iron, aluminium, &c. sheets or plates comprises a vee-grooved cast steel &c. supporting bar 4 and a radiused, chamfered &c. bending-bar 7 co-operating therewith and movable by reversible powerdriven, square-thread screws 8 journalled in fixed bearings 10 and engaging internally screwed lugs 11 carried by the movable member 6 supporting the bar 7. The member 6 comprises three plates arranged to form a recess to receive the bar 7 and has packing pieces 21 for adjustment. The machine is driven by pulley or electric motor with reversing belts, gear-box, &c. In a modification, the bar 4 comprises a channel with one or both limbs movable to suit the bend angle or work thickness.
