Abstract

618,334. Dust precipitators. COMPAGNIE POUR LA FABRICATION DES COMPTEURS ET MATERIAL D'USINES A GAZ. Oct. 18, 1946, No. 31067. Convention date, Jan. 21. [Class 36] [Also in Group XL (a)] In electrostatic precipitation apparatus the deposit on the insulators of solid or liquid particles is avoided by the formation of an ionized electric field, in which the particles are charged and subsequently precipitated towards the wall of the apparatus, the ionised electric field being obtained by means of a disc placed between the insulator and the gaseous atmosphere, the disc co-operating with a cylindrical member within which it is situated. The insulators are arranged at the downstream side of the apparatus. Thus, an insulator 4 through which passes the rod 5 carrying the cross-rod 6 from which the high potential precipitating wires 3 depend into the air current tubes 2 is provided with a disc 7, whereby an ionized field is formed between the disc 7 and the wall 8 of the apparatus, the wall 8 being earthed. Any remaining particles travelling towards the insulator 4 must first go through the ionized field 9, where they are charged and thus driven by the electric field towards the wall 8.
