618,202. Etching. HUMBER, Ltd., and CLIFFORD, S. C. Nov. 1, 1946, No. 32494. [Class 100(ii)] [Also in Group XXXVI] Articles of aluminium or aluminium alloy before being anodised are subjected to the action of a bath containing hydrofluoric acid and nitric acid in solution. The articles may be treated first for the removal of surface grease, then immersed for about 30 seconds in a bath containing one part of hydrofluoric acid (50 per cent aqueous solution), two parts of nitric acid, specific gravity 1.42, and one part of water. The articles are then rinsed and subjected to the anodising process.
