Abstract

618,101. Protective cut-out arrangements. BIRLEC, Ltd., and MAY, E. Oct. 18, 1946, No. 31105. [Class 38 (v)] In an overload cutout arrangement, a potential divider 1 is connected across the terminals 2, 3 of an A.C. source and a discharge tube 4 and the coil 6 of a D.C. relay are connected in series across the potential divider, the discharge tube serving to rectify wholly or in part the voltage applied to the relay. The discharge tube may be a neon tube with one electrode of small and the other of large area. The rectifying action of the discharge tube may be supplemented by a further rectifier.
