Abstract

616,699. Automatic gain control. SOC. ALSACIENNE DE CONSTRUCTIONS MECANIQUES. Aug. 9, 1945, No. 20437. Convention date, Feb. 17, 1944. [Class 40 (v)] In a push-pull amplifier provided with automatic gain control, a limiter is connected in shunt with the signal channel in order to avoid instability when a, strong signal is suddenly applied. The gain of the stage 1 in a push-pull amplifier is controlled from a rectifier 7. which is fed from the output transformer 5, a delay bias being applied via the terminal 11. The limiter 8 is connected across the primary of the transformer 5 and is given a greater bias via the terminal 18. The biasses may be adjusted while maintained in constant ratio by utilizing the voltage drop across two resistances carrying the same adjustable current. The time-constant of the limiter network 17 is perferably shorter than that of the rectifier load 13.
