613,900. Road levelling machines. JAEGER MACHINE CO. March 24, 1947, No. 7968. Convention date, Nov. 27, 1944. [Class 107] In a road levelling machine there is mounted in front of the leading edge 37 of a dead screed 30 a compacting and cut-off bar 12, which is oscillated at high speed in a direction parallel to the screed by a crank 51 and an eccentric 50 driven by an electric motor 44. The dead screed can separately be vertically adjusted, canted in relation to the direction of travel and given a transverse contour corresponding to the desired contour of the road surface and since the cut-off bar 12 is carried by brackets 41 moving over rollers 40 secured to an angle 38 mounted on the dead screed the cut-off bar is simultaneously adjusted with respect to the road. A shield 55 protects the operating mechanism of the cutoff bar and the serrated front edge 12b of the cut-off 12 is bevelled on the under surface.
