Abstract

613,596. Knitting-machines. BENTLEY ENGINEERING CO., LTD., and PEBERDY, R. June 20, 1946, No. 18561. [Class 74(ii)] A splicing or other yarn feeder in a circular machine moves into and out of the feeding position about an axis parallel to the axis of the needle circle and is slidable in the direction of its length towards and away from the needle circle. The feeder arm 2 is pivoted at a pivot block 5 attached to an arm 6 secured to a bracket 4 and pivoting about a vertical axis 15. One end of the arm 2 slides in a guide block 3 pivoting in the bracket 4. Stops on the bracket 4 limit movement of the arm 6, which movement is imparted through a push rod 10 by a bell crank lever 13, arms 13a, 13b of which are acted upon by adjustable cams 16, 17. A spring 11 draws back the arm 6 as the lever 13 withdraws, moving the eye 7 of the feeder arm 2 from the feeding position to the non-feeding position (indicated in dotted lines) along a line FP whereupon the thread is cut and trapped by a trapper and cutter 8. The invention is described in connection with an opposed needle cylinder machine.
