Abstract

613,127. Composite blocks. HOLLAND & HANNEN & CUBITTS, Ltd., and SWEETT, W. T. Jan. 17, 1946, No. 1608. [Class 145 (ii)] [Also in Group X] A frame structure to which cladding panels are secured to form panels or walls such as partition walls is composed of separate strips, bars or post members 1, Fig. 4, of wood or other material arranged so that their adjacent ends form a space such as 5 at each joint and which are joined together by separate connecting members 4 covering the space at the joints. The connecting members 4 may be nailed to the outer surfaces of the post members, preferably lying in rebates flush with the post members or they may be secured in slots as shown in Fig. 18. The sides of the frames may be formed of more than one member 1 in which case stay members 6 and 10 which may themselves be formed of more than one member are provided, spaces 7, Fig. 6, and 11, Fig. 7, being formed at the juncture of the stay members 6 or 10 with the post members 1 and at the juncture of the horizontal and vertical stays 6 and 10 respectively, the joints being made by connecting members 4 as above. Shallow channels 14 may be provided in the post members 1 which may receive dowelling rods for connecting adjacent panels. The cladding sheets 2, Fig. 4, may be plywood or other suitable material.
