Abstract

612,901. Lifting-slings. BRITISH ROPES, Ltd., and WATTS, A. B. June 5, 1946, No. 17107. [Class 78 (iv)] In a sling formed as a closed loop which has a'thimble 2 for engagement with a crane hook inserted within a spliced part 4 at one end and a curved reinforcing member 3 attached to the other end and engageable by a hook 6 slidably mounted on the sling by means of a member 8; the member 8 is formed with grooves 11, 12 to receive the rope. These grooves are rounded or curved in the direction of their length to facilitate easy sliding on the sling, which latter can be detached from the member 8 by the removal of a pin 7 which normally engages the hook 6 with the member 8.
