612,183. Locking-nuts. RULE, T. B. May 17, 1946, Nos. 14893 and 36956. [Class 89 (i)] Nuts are rendered self-locking by turning down one end to a conical or domed form and making pairs of cuts 5 across this reduced part. The parts 6 be. tween the cuts are then set in radially and axially. In large nuts the number of cuts may be increased. To assist the bending, the nut may be grooved externally at the base of the reduced portion. In a modification, only a single pair of cuts is employed.
