Abstract

598,800. Locking-nuts. LEE, F. W.M. Sept. 11, 1945, No. 23339. [Class 89 (i)] Nuts are rendered self-locking by forming a recess in the upper part at 2 by peening over a flange and inserting a wire spring 3 in the recess in which it is locked frictionally by action of the free ends. The spring is shaped resiliently to engage the bolt thread and various forms of spring are illustrated contacting the thread at two, three and four points. Both sides of the nut may be fitted with springs.
