Abstract

612,172. Sliding-clasp fasteners. UNITED STATES RUBBER CO. May 15, 1946, No. 14650. Convention date, July 26, 1945. [Class 44] The sliding clasp of a fastener has a locking arm 20 pivoted at 21 and guided between integral raised ribs 19 on the upper plate. The pull tab 29 is slidably anchored in slots 31 in the ribs and adapted when pulled to exert a camming action on the arm to move it to the unlocked position. The locking arm has two angularly disposed cam surfaces 32, 33 for engagement respectively by the tab when pulled in opposite directions. The locking arm has a projection 23 engaging a spring 22 in a slot in the tape separating pillar 16. One form of locking arm has a tongue 24 engaging between the rows of elements. Another form, shown in Fig. 5, has a blade 26 engaging between elements of one row.
