Abstract
610,873. Fuel-injection nozzles. SOC. ANON. A. SAURER. April 17, 1946, No. 11805. Convention date, Nov. 14, 1945. [Class 7 (iii)] In a fuel injection nozzle having a valve 9, Fig. 1, opening outwardly towards the cylinder, the valve being provided with a piston-like extension 11 below and of greater cross-sectional area than its valve-seat 5, sliding in a cylindrical elongation 6, the elongation is provided with fuel injection bores 7 which are controlled by at least one control edge 15 on the extension 11. The fuel under pressure entering at 16 forces the valve 8 off its seat 5, the fuel entering an annular chamber 17 in the extension 12 of the valve 8 and then acting on the full cross-sectional area of the piston 12 to increase the rate of opening. From chamber 17 the fuel flows through grooves 13 in the piston and is injected when the control edge 15 uncovers the bores 7. In a modification, the bores 7 are inclined and formed in two groups brought into action in succession by the edge 15. In a further modification, Fig. 3, the fuel flows from chamber 17 through a duct 24 to annular grooves 20, 21, the lower edges 22, 23 of which control injection through groups of differently inclined bores 28, 29 which may operate in succession or simultaneously.
