Abstract
610,338. Stacking trays. GIBBS, W. J. Jan. 8, 1946, No. 720. Convention date, Feb. 17, 1945. [Class 78 (ii)] A storing and feeding apparatus for stacked articles comprises a supporting frame 11; a carrier 16 holding trays 17 full of dishes with the uppermost at a predetermined level; a carrier supporting means e.g. chains 13, 13<1>, and springs 20 attached thereto so as to balance the weight of the trays and so as to be readily releasable and readily accessible. In the Figures the four chains are attached at 19, pass under sprockets 24, 24<1>, 25, 251 (which are secured to the ends of floating cross-bar 21), pass over fixed sprockets 12, 12<1>, and are then fixed to the bottom corners 14, 14<1>, 15, 15<1>. Cross-bar 21 is held down by springs 20 which are detachably secured at 26 to the frame 11. As each tray is removed the springs shorten and pull up the chains with the carrier, and so present the next tray. The springs are hooked at 31 to fit over pins 32 between the spaced walls 22, 23 of the cross-bar, and over the pins there also fit split elements 34, 35, which serve as counterweights. Door 30 allows inspection of interior. For lighter trays one or more springs are disconnected. Specification 530,590 is referred to.
