[Class 6(i)] A seed-sowing machine comprises a wheeled frame 14 carrying seed hoppers 34 from which seeds pass in single lines through tubes 38 to pocketed distributing devices and thence to the ground, the frame being provided with a transverse member 15 on which are mounted adjustable brackets which support the seed hoppers and distributing devices. In the form shown, the machine comprises a frame 13, 14 mounted on an axle 11 which can be driven through ratchets 12 from either of two land wheels 10 carried by the axle. The drive is continued through a clutch 24, gear-wheels 23, 26 and bevel gears 28, 29, to shafts 30 which drive the moving parts of two or more seed distributers mounted on a cross bar 15 so as to be relatively transversely adjustable. Each distributer, Fig. 3 comprises a hopper 34 feeding seed through a shoot 35 to a second hopper 36 mounted at one end of a transparent tube 38 of sufficiently small bore to cause the seeds to pass through it in a single line. At the lower end of the tube the seeds enter recesses 46 in a rotating disc 42 mounted on the shaft 30. The seeds drop from the recesses in the disc into a delivery tube 45 which carries them to furrows formed by a land-engaging shoe 49 mounted on the frame 14, which also carries furrow closing rollers 52. In a modification (Fig. 4, not shown) the rotating disc is replaced by an endless belt having pockets in its surface.
