608,370. Stands; BEACH, A. H.. and BEACH, J. S. Feb. 21, 1946, No. 5421. [Class 52(iii)] [Also in Groups XXIV, XXV and XXVIII] Means for locking or setting relatively-slidable parts of - the telescopic pedestal of a display stand or device comprises a crank on the inner part and a roller, sleeves, &c. between the crank and the outer part the roller &c. being moved into locking engagement with the latter part to secure the two parts together by turning the slidable parts relatively to one another. As shown the inner tubular part 2 of relatively slidable parts 1, 2 is provided at its lower end with a plug 5 which is formed with a cylindrical part 6 which is eccentric to the axis of the slidable tubes, collars 7, 8 being formed on the plug 5. Disposed in the annular space 9 between the eccentric 6 and the outer tube 1 is either a roller 10 or a sleeve 12 such that on relative rotation of the parts 1, 2 the roller 10 or sleeve 12 is moved into jamming association with the outer part 1 or a lining arranged therein. The roller 10, or sleeve 12 may be replaced by other elements such as rollers.
