Abstract
608,273. Boots and shoes. McMURRAY, H. G. Feb. 19,1946, No. 5146. [Class 17(ii)] A metal box toe 18, Fig. 3 for a safety shoe for protecting the toes of the wearer is placed between two insole sections 13, 14 on a last bottom, the shoe upper 16 being lasted to the outer of these sections. The lower section 14 of the insole, which may or may not be of full length is trimmed to coincide with the dimensions of the last in normal fashion and to lie inside and to register with the wall of the metal box toe 18, while the upper section 13 is about 3-16 inch longer. The section 14 is flat while the section 13 is ribbed or otherwise constructed according as to whether the shoe is to be made according to the welted process or to the McKay or cemented processes. The sections 13, 14 are preferably cemented together before the toe end of the shoe is lasted.
