607,414. Hose couplings. CARLING, E. C. Feb. 2, 1946, Nos. 3366 and 9688. [Class 99 (i)] In a hose-end fitting, in which the hose is gripped between a sleeve 6 and insert 5, the material of the hose is removed from its outer or inner surface or both, down to the reinforcement 2 to form recesses which are filled with asbestos packing 3. The outer recess is spaced from, and the inner recess extends to the end of the hose. A shoulder or washer 8 on the insert may confine the end of the hose, and an internal flange 7 of the sleeve engages a groove in the insert.
