606,288. Reinforcements for concrete. JONES, W. T., and HODGSON, E. S. Jan. 2, 1946, No. 133. [Class 20(iv)] A metal reinforcement for concrete consists of a strip 10 which is bent backwards and forwards upon itself and is provided with holes 13 or open ended slots 14 near the folds to accommodate longitudinal reinforcing rods 12. When holes 13 are provided, the strip, which is closely folded, is threaded on to the rods 12 and then expanded to an extent which determines the spacing of the bars 12. When slots 14, which may be of bayonet form, are provided, the strip is expanded before hooking on the rods 12. The rods 12 may be curved to provide curved reinforcements, e.g.,- for bridges or balconies. The lower parts of the strip may be bent to form feet 11 to support the reinforcement when it is, for example, used in road making. In this case the rods 12 are threaded through straight strips at right angles thereto, which strips support additional rods intermediate the rods 12. In making a pillar or the like.
