Abstract

605,222. Cigarette cases. CARTWRIGHT, H. C Dec. 18, 1945, No. 34238. [Class 18] A case for cigarettes comprises a partitioned holder in which the cigarettes stand on end and a cover member having side legs integral with a cover portion, the legs being attached by a pivot or hinge to the base of the holder. In one form, the holder 1, which may contain two rows of cigarettes 3, has two covers 7 attached each to two legs 4a, 5a, the legs being joined at the base by a flexible strip 6. The base of the holder is grooved to receive the strip 6. The covers 7 are bevelled at their lower edge so that they may lie against the upper triangular section of the holder and form with it, when closed, the sides of the case. In another form containing a single row of cigarettes, the top of the holder slopes from one side above the cigarettes to the other side at a lower position. A cover as described above, has legs pivoted at the base of the holder, each by a spring strip which returns the cover to the holder after opening and retains it in a closed condition.
