Abstract
605,220. Operating clutches. LAITER, R. Dec. 18, 1945, No. 34235. Convention date, Nov. 18, 1943. [Class 80 (ii)] [Also in Groups V and XXVI] A press is driven by a pulley 45 when a claw clutch 46, 51 is engaged by the release of the spring-pressed clutch member 46 when a finger 54 is raised by means of a lever 60, Fig. 2. If the lever 60 is moved a full stroke, a pawl 59 on the lever slips from under a head 57 on the finger which is released so that it engages a cam 53, Fig. 1, on the clutch member 46 which is thus disengaged and the finger 54 stops the press at the highest point of the cam. For continuous operation the lever 60 is only moved half way to a notch 61, the pawl 59 remains engaged with the head 57, maintains the finger 54 out of action and the clutch remains engaged.
