604,244. Binaural and directional systems. NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP PHILIPS' GLOEILAMPENFABRIEKEN. Nov. 24, 1945, No. 31757. Convention date, June 24, 1940. [Class 40 (iv)] In a stereophonic transmission or recording and reproducing system, alternate bands from the outputs of two spaced microphones 1 and 2 are selected by complementary filters 5 and 6 and are combined in a single wireless or other transmission channel 9 or in a single recording channel. In reproduction, the alternate bands are again separated and fed to spaced loudspeakers 17 and 18. In a modification, frequencies below 250 and above 4000 which do not materially assist in producing a stereophonic effect are separated out by additional filters and reproduced by further separate loudspeakers.
