Abstract

601.804. Treating wood: acid-proof paper-board. CHLORIDE ELECTRICAL STORAGE CO., Ltd., and HAMPTON. H. J. Dec. 10. 1945, No. 33296. [Classes 96 and 140] [Also in Group XXXVI] Dried alkali treated material consisting of natural wood or wood in fibrous or powder form compressed into slabs or sheets such as fibre board is immersed in a dilute solution of an alkali salt and after draining and drying is impregnated with a solution in a volatile solvent of a resin, the solvent removed and the material then treated with an aqueous solution of a wetting agent and dried. The alkali salts specified are sodium or potassium carbonate or silicate. The resins may be polyvinyl chloride or polymethylmethacrylate. The treated material is suitable for use as accumulator separators.
