Abstract
601,046. Sifting-apparatus. BARKER & SON, ENGINEERS, Ltd., W. H., BARKER, W., and BARKER, W. N. Nov. 13, 1945, Nos. 30301/45 and 14497/46. [Class 117] A vibratory screening - apparatus comprises in combination a screen b, a support a, a parallel-motion linkage consisting of links c inclined to both screen and support, an oscillatory balancing member d having a fixed pivot axis e near one end of the screen on supports f having its centre of gravity on the opposite side of the pivot from the screen, a rotary shaft h carried by the member d, having an eccentric o, a connecting rod p to the screen b and a biassed flywheel n. The connecting rod is at approximately 90 degrees to the links. An auxiliary weight g is attached to the counter-balance weight d so as substantially to balance the horizontal components of the forces involved. The flywheel is driven by an electric motor i and the biassing weight t is arranged to counter-balance the vertical components of the forces. In a modification, the screen b and the weight d are suspended from the base a and the links c may comprise pulley and belts or chains.
