[Class 8 (ii)] Displacement of a ram 10 actuated by compressed air to move e.g. a work table 26, is controlled by a hydraulic ram 27 against which the ram 10 operates, the ram 27 displacing liquid from its cylinder 28 into a tank 31 through an adjustable restricted orifice 35 ; a non- return valve 34 permits a quick return of the ram 27. This ram may be engaged over part only nf the stroke of the ram 10 with which it is in abutting connection only.
