Abstract

597,311. Grinding cutlery. AKTIEBOLAGET ELEKTROLUX. Aug. 14, 1945, No. 20845. Convention date, Oct. 24, 1944. [Class 60] A device for grinding cutlery includes a rotating grinding disc structure having a deep acute-angled groove around its periphery and a separating member at the apex of the groove, the device being used for grinding both faces of a knife edge simultaneously. The grinding disc comprises two halves 15, 16 screwed together at 17, the disc 15 being formed with a boss 19 having secured thereto a rubber driving roller 13 driven by frictional contact with a rotating container 10 of a kitchen machine, of the type, for example, as described in Specification 536,727, [Group II]. The grinding disc structure is rotatably supported on an arm 20 of a resilient support 14 secured at its other end by a rubber bushing in an aperture 25 in the machine frame. The discs 15, 16 may have carborundum inserts, Fig. 6, or, as in Fig. 3, an annulus 28 of emery cloth may be used. The grinding material is covered at the base of the groove 29 by a paper ring 30 to protect the extreme edge of the knife.
