Abstract

A water containing concrete mass comprising particles of differing sizes is compacted by subjecting it simultaneously or in immediate succession to internally produced vibrating impulses of differing frequency. The vibrations are produced by means of a number of vibrating devices, e.g., rod vibrators corresponding to at least the number of employed frequencies, each device vibrating at a selected frequency. At least one vibrator may vibrate at a frequency to influence small particles and at least another vibrator may vibrate at a frequency to influence mainly the large particles of the concrete mass. The amplitudes of the vibrations of the devices may be adjusted so that a device vibrating with higher frequency has a smaller amplitude than a device vibrating with a lower frequency, whereby a more uniform penetration of the mass by impulses of differing frequencies is attained.
