Abstract

591,297. Coal stores. RUSSELL, V. W. April 26, 1945, No. 10569. [Class 20 (i)] [Also in Group II] A device for sifting coal comprises slat members arranged on edge in spaced parallel relationship with their upper edges on a common horizontal or inclined plane, the slat members being fixed to legs and supporting an inclined plate which guides the small coal to an accessible position. As shown, iron slat members 1 spaced apart by distance pieces 3 are secured together by rods 2 passing through perforations in the slats and the assemblage is supported on legs 4. A plate 5 directs the coal dust towards the front of the device. The plate may be adjusted by being hinged to the rearmost slat and suspended at the free end by chains from hooks, or it may be suspended by chains both at front and back. The slat members may be cast or moulded in one piece.
