Abstract
590,836. Chairs; settees. GIMSON & SLATER, Ltd., and SLATER, H. A. Feb. 16, 1945, No. 3906. [Class 52 (ii)] A chair or settee has detachable sides or ends 1a, 1b with sockets 10a-10d at their inner faces into which take the ends of bars 11a-11d for supporting the seat 8 and back rest 9, spring. means being provided in the sockets to resist disengagement. The upholstered sides comprise top and bottom sheet metal members 2, 3 connected by uprights 4, 5 and struts 6, 7. The tubular sockets present their open ends at the inner faces of the sides 1a, 1b and the ends of the bars or tubes 11a-11d are releasably held in the sockets by spring ball catches or bayonet joints 16 with springs 14. The bars may be joined at 12, 13. The seat and back rests are separate and releasably fixed to the bars by clips.
