Abstract

590,835. Indicators for switches. SIMPLEX ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and BARTON, A. V. Jan. 23, 1945, No. 1766. [Class 38 (v)] The operating handle of a switch adapted to vary the degree of heating of an appliance is provided with a translucent flanges 13, which is illuminated when the controller is "on" and is of varying colour or opacity around it circumference. A knob 12, carrying the flange 13, drives a spindle 10 to actuate a series of switches or a thermostat. A lamp 15, energized when any of the heating circuits are "on", illuminates the flange 13 through an aperture 20 in a translucent window 14. The opacity of the flange 13 may be varied by differing its thickness, and it may carry indicative markings. Alternatively the flange may have differently coloured segments.
