588,534. Motor attachments for cycles. JONES, G. H. Feb. 27, 1945, No. 4914. [Class 79 (iii)] An internal combustion engine and transmission mechanism for imparting positive motion to a cycle wheel is provided with a supporting lug whereby it can be rigidly secured to one end of one of the road wheel axles so that it is situated wholly above the axle, and is provided also with means for direct attachment to the cycle frame. As shown a small petrol engine a provided with chains and sprockets for power transmission is provided with a lug o by which it may be bolted to the road wheel axle i. The engine is further braced to the cycle frame by means of brackets t, u. Instead of the lug o a separately formed lug mounted on the spindle may be bolted to the engine crankcase.
